We’re Not Dead Yet

Hi again, readers! I’m posting this update to let you know that we have successfully survived our first week in Romania!!! We now have an oven and washing machine, and we also have a very skillful chef (Katie).

We have been involved in a lot of activities this past week, and I’ll give you a summary of some of them.

On Wednesday we had our first debate club meeting with the university students. It was very successful and it was also a lot of fun. 🙂 We gave demonstrations of cross examinations and had the students come up with some of their own questions.

On Thursday, we went to a concert at the Citadel of Oradea. Thomas writes:

“The concert was a big deal because a famous Romanian singer, Paula Seling was performing there. The concert was held at a lovely venue. It was a very large property with a church at the center of it. We got there early, so we had time to explore and enjoy the scenery.

“The concert started with Adi giving an introduction in which he recognized special guests, including us. After Adi’s introduction, the music started. It was the hand-bell choir from Adi’s church, called Corul de Clopotei Adonai, and it was amazing! The choir performed several songs, one with Paula Seling, the famous singer. Then she performed some songs herself. The concert lasted until 2100, and after it was over, we went with Adi and Lavi to an after-party with Paula Seling and Corul de Clopotei Adonai.

“We did not get back to our apartment until after midnight, and we were all very tired, but we enjoyed ourselves. It was a pretty full day. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, so please pray that we have good health and energy to more effectively carry out God’s mission.”

Friday and Saturday were “office days,” and we got a lot of planning done for debate clubs and camps. Felicity says that lunch on Friday was “really yummy.” Katie made rice, beans, and sausage for us.

This morning, we went to Adi and Lavi’s church. Thomas and Felicity helped with Sunday School and taught the kids a song. After church, Lavi’s mom made us a delicious meal of chicken soup, mashed potatoes, chicken, and broccoli.

Tomorrow, we will start going to middle school and high school classes and giving introductory debate presentations.

Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers, and please continue to do so!
